Elmore County Museum

Seems like yesterday I remember walking to the town post office with my dad and excitedly pulling out the mail from P.O. Drawer F. Even though the mailboxes remain, the post office is now the Elmore County Museum. First constructed as the community’s post office in 1937, the building now houses items that portray every day life in early Alabama and hosts quarterly presentations about the area’s history. It’s also the first “snail stop” on the Tulotoma Snail Trail, where you’ll find a giant craved Tulotoma magnifica, along with signage, seating and cultivated greenscapes.
